Recruitment & Business Development Lead

Location: Bundaberg or Strathpine, QLD
Employment Type: Part-Time – 3 Days Per Week, with Opportunity to Grow to Full-Time
Industry: Mining, Civil, Construction and Transport
Start Date: Immediate Start Available

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced blue-collar recruiter who is ready to take the next step into a broader role encompassing recruitment leadership, people management and business development.

This is a hands-on position where you will manage the complete recruitment lifecycle—from sourcing and selection through to medical bookings, onboarding and mobilisation—while supporting and guiding a small team.

You will work autonomously, with direct support from the Director, and build strong relationships across a small and valued client base. You will also play an important role in identifying new opportunities and helping grow the business.

The position will initially be part-time, working three days per week, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time role as the business expands. You can be based at either our Bundaberg or Strathpine office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment for mining, civil, construction and transport roles

  • Lead, support and coordinate employees involved in recruitment, onboarding and mobilisation activities

  • Source candidates through SEEK, job boards, existing databases, referrals and industry networks

  • Screen candidates, conduct interviews and complete reference checks

  • Coordinate pre-employment medicals, drug and alcohol testing and other compliance requirements

  • Manage onboarding, site inductions, travel arrangements and mobilisation to site

  • Maintain accurate candidate, employee and compliance records

  • Prepare and advertise vacancies across relevant platforms

  • Build and maintain an active database of skilled blue-collar candidates

  • Develop strong relationships with existing clients and understand their workforce requirements

  • Provide responsive and professional communication to clients, candidates and employees

  • Identify business development opportunities and establish relationships with prospective clients

  • Assist with workforce planning, upcoming projects and recruitment strategies

  • Manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes with a high level of autonomy

  • Work closely with the Director to support the continued growth of the business

About You

This opportunity would suit an experienced blue-collar recruiter who enjoys being hands-on but is ready to take greater ownership of recruitment operations, client relationships and team performance.

You will ideally have:

  • Demonstrated recruitment experience within mining, civil, construction, transport or a similar blue-collar industry

  • Experience managing end-to-end recruitment, onboarding and mobilisation

  • Previous people leadership experience or the confidence and capability to step into a leadership role

  • A sound understanding of pre-employment medicals, drug and alcohol testing, inductions and mobilisation requirements

  • Strong client relationship and stakeholder-management skills

  • An interest in business development and growing existing and new client relationships

  • Experience using SEEK, recruitment databases and other sourcing platforms

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills

  • The ability to manage multiple vacancies, candidates and mobilisation requirements simultaneously

  • Strong attention to detail and a practical understanding of workforce compliance

  • A proactive, professional and solutions-focused approach

  • The confidence to work autonomously while maintaining regular communication with the Director

  • Current Australian working rights
