Mechanical Internship
Job Summary:
As a Mechanical Intern at Mushroom Material, your chosen project will aim to reflect both your interests and strengths. You’ll work on projects that support the design, optimisation, and scaling of our mycelium-based manufacturing systems. You’ll apply your engineering and problem-solving skills to improve process efficiency, equipment performance, and product consistency. Whether it’s helping automate production workflows, testing new manufacturing techniques, or assisting in developing pilot-scale manufacturing systems, you will directly contribute to bringing eco-friendly materials to market.
Key Responsibilities may include:
Update documentation and SOPs to reflect design or process changes.
Contribute practical solutions for the development of scalable, sustainable manufacturing technologies.
Product development support
Production optimisation
Fixture design and manufacture
Data systems design and analysis
Special purpose machine design and build
Desirable Qualifications and Experience/Knowledge:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Process Engineering, or a related field.
Experience or coursework related to automation or process design.
Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar).
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to document and track experiments effectively.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate findings effectively.
A passion for sustainability and an understanding of the environmental impact of traditional packaging materials.
