ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer joining the Open Pit Technical Services team, responsible for providing geotechnical support to ensure safe and efficient mine development, production and infrastructure activities across Paddington Operations. Working closely with mining, geology and technical teams, this position plays a key role in managing ground control, monitoring pit stability and ensuring compliance with statutory and company requirements.
Conduct regular geotechnical inspections across active mining areas to ensure safe operating conditions
Develop, review and maintain Ground Control Management Plans for open pit, underground and waste dump operations
Monitor pit, underground and dump stability and provide recommendations to manage geotechnical risk
Provide technical advice to mining, geology and planning teams to optimise mine design and extraction
Collect, analyse and report geotechnical data, recommending design or operational changes where required
Manage geotechnical investigations and coordinate consultants for pit, dump and infrastructure design
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and geotechnical regulations
Deliver ground awareness training and provide guidance to operational personnel
Perform duties as a statutory supervisor as required
Support continuous improvement in mine design, safety and operational performance
ABOUT YOU
At least 4 years of relevant experience in Open Pit Mining and 1 year of leadership experience (Essential).
Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering or related discipline (Essential).
Current, unrestricted Western Australian Class “C” Driver’s Licence (Essential).
Current Statutory Supervisor qualifications (Desirable).
Experience with geotechnical mapping, logging, data analysis and mine design
Knowledge of Ground Control Management Plans and geotechnical risk management
Experience using geotechnical software such as DIPS, UNWEDGE, Map3D, Surpac or similar
Strong understanding of WA mining legislation and statutory requirements

Receive a $12k residential allowance per annum, if you are residential and not FIFO.
Receive up to $5k site allowance per annum, depending on your site location.
Receive up to 15% short-term incentive payment (STIP) of your base salary.

A fully covered Death and Total & Permanent Disability (TPD) insurance or allowance up to $2.4k.
Pro-rata long service leave (LSL) after just 5 years of service and be entitled to 13 weeks paid LSL after 10 years of service.
