Psychologist or Mental Health Social Worker
About the role
Safe Place Therapy is seeking fully registered Psychologists (AHPRA) or Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AASW) with experience counselling in private practice to join our team. This role would suit both an experienced counsellor as well as an enthusiastic early career counsellor. Multiple contractor positions are available, including lucrative evening positions at the clinic in Footscray. A minimum of 2 days per week is required to maximise opportunities for clients to see you.
Key responsibilities
- Provide trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy across a range of presentations
- Work with clients presenting with ADHD and Autism, LGBTQIA+ community, relationship counselling, trauma and PTSD, eating disorders, personality disorders, adjustment disorders, and general mental health concerns
- Manage own administrative tasks, including case notes, writing letters to referrers, and writing reports as necessary
- Self-manage and work autonomously as part of a wider team
- Choose the kinds of client types you are willing to see – NDIS, TAC, Workcover, Victims of Crime, or solely private-paying clients
About you
- Full registration with AHPRA or AASW
- Ability to register for own provider number
- Own ABN
- Professional Indemnity Insurance
- Working With Children Check (if seeing clients under the age of 18 years)
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a wider team
- Experience counselling in private practice
- Skills in trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy
- Experience or proficiency with modalities such as Emotion-Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, or Gottmann Method valued
