About the Role
An established national building compliance and fire engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Fire Safety Engineer to join its Perth team.
This position is focused specifically on fire safety engineering, performance-based solutions and consultancy services. It is not a fire protection engineering or fire services design role and does not involve the detailed design of sprinklers, hydrants, alarms or other fire protection systems.
You will manage projects throughout their lifecycle, deliver complex performance-based fire engineering solutions and provide technical guidance to other members of the team.

The fire engineering team provides specialist performance-based fire safety engineering solutions and consultancy services across a diverse range of building projects. The business offers senior engineers the opportunity to lead projects, influence technical quality and mentor the next generation of fire safety professionals.

You will manage projects throughout their lifecycle, deliver complex performance-based fire engineering solutions and provide technical guidance to other members of the team.
Duties
- Manage fire safety engineering projects from initial opportunity through to completion
- Develop and verify performance-based fire engineering solutions
- Undertake qualitative and quantitative fire engineering assessments
- Complete and document complex technical analysis
- Prepare Fire Engineering Briefs, advice notes, letters and technical reports
- Review technical analysis and reports prepared by other fire safety engineers
- Communicate engineering findings clearly to clients and project stakeholders
- Act as the primary contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle
- Attend client meetings and site inspections when required
- Prepare project scopes, fee estimates and proposals
- Mentor junior engineers and support their technical development
- Contribute to internal quality-assurance processes
- Act as Certifier – Fire Safety where required by state legislation
- Support business development and client relationship activities
- Tertiary qualification in Fire Safety Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- At least five years’ relevant fire safety engineering experience
- Strong experience developing performance-based fire engineering solutions
- Experience across a range of building types and project complexities
- Strong knowledge of the BCA/NCC and its Performance Requirements
- Ability to undertake and review qualitative and quantitative fire engineering analysis
- Experience managing multiple small, medium and large projects concurrently
- Ability to review technical work and provide sound engineering guidance
- Strong technical report-writing and stakeholder-management skills
- Confident preparing scopes of work and project fee estimates
- Able to work independently and exercise sound engineering judgement
- Experience mentoring less-experienced fire safety engineers
- Relevant fire safety engineering registration, or the ability to obtain and maintain required registrations
