Safe Steps Care and Respite

Safe Steps Care and Respite is seeking a mature, compassionate, and experienced female Disability Support Worker to support a female participant in her 60s in Carindale, QLD.

The current available shifts are Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

We are looking for a mature person who is experienced, reliable, patient, respectful and confident providing personal care and manual handling support.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

  • Assisting with personal care and hygiene needs

  • Supporting daily living activities and household tasks

  • Meal preparation and cooking

  • Medication administration

  • Supporting the participant to maintain independence, dignity and choice

  • Providing safe manual handling and mobility assistance

  • Assisting with transfers, including the use of a Sara Stedy

  • Following individual support plans and safe work practices

  • Maintaining accurate progress notes and reporting any concerns appropriately

Essential Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Previous experience supporting people living with disability

  • Experience with personal care and manual handling

  • Experience using a Sara Stedy or similar transfer equipment

  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently in spoken and written English

  • Current First Aid Certificate

  • Current CPR Certificate

  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check

  • Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation and mandatory training modules

  • A professional, reliable and person-centred approach

  • Availability to work Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

  • Ability to commence immediately

  • Full Australian driver's licence is highly desirable

About You

You are a mature and dependable female support worker who understands the importance of providing respectful, person-centred care. You are confident assisting with personal care, transfers, and daily living activities while encouraging the participant to maintain as much independence as possible.

You will be joining a team that values dignity, safety, choice, respect and quality support.
