Rocklabs is looking for a Purchasing Specialist to join our Auckland-based team and play a key role in ensuring the materials, components and services we need are purchased accurately and delivered on time.

Working closely with Planning, Engineering, Production, Finance and our supplier network, you’ll manage day-to-day purchasing, supplier communication and expediting while supporting sourcing, supplier performance and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you’ll do

  • Convert material requirements into accurate and timely purchase orders.
  • Manage open orders and proactively follow up suppliers to protect production and customer commitments.
  • Build strong day-to-day relationships with suppliers and resolve routine supply, pricing and delivery issues.
  • Maintain accurate purchase order, pricing, lead time and supplier information in our ERP system.
  • Identify and escalate supply risks, shortages and supplier delays early.
  • Support sourcing activities, supplier evaluations, RFQs, negotiations and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Work closely with Planning, Engineering and Production when requirements or priorities change.
  • Support purchasing for projects, equipment, spares and operational requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and help strengthen purchasing processes and supplier performance.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who is organised, commercially aware and proactive, with the ability to build strong supplier relationships while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

You’ll ideally have:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in purchasing, procurement or supply chain, ideally within manufacturing or engineering.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple orders and competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
  • The ability to identify supply issues, gather the facts and escalate risks early.
  • A collaborative, customer-focused approach and an interest in developing your sourcing, negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement, data accuracy and following robust processes.
  • A relevant qualification in supply chain, procurement or a related discipline would be advantageous.
