Metallurgical Technician

About the role

To provide metallurgical and general services support in the fields of production and mill recovery at Hellyer Gold Mine.

Key responsibilities

• Perform periodic sizing tests and associated computations

• Provide assistance in the management of all equipment utilised for production

• Collect samples and test on a regular basis, reporting results to appropriate personnel and/or authorities

• Check and ensure stock levels pertaining to buffer and wash solutions, pH meter acids, filter papers and other relevant reagents / chemicals required to maintain plant consumption

• Process concentrates for transportable moisture limit tests

• Ensure appropriate equipment is maintained in good working order

• Ensure the laboratory and associated areas are maintained in a neat and orderly fashion

• Maintain laboratory store supplies

• Assist metallurgical personnel as required

• Carry out concentrate handling testwork in Supervisor's absence

About you

• Drivers licence (C Class) – essential

• Working knowledge of MS Office suite, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint – essential

• Demonstrated experience in same or similar position in equivalent sized organisation

• Demonstrated experience in Bailey process or equivalent

• Previous experience in all phases of lead and zinc flotation, including grinding, differential flotation, regrinding and filtration – desirable

• Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills

• Strong presentation and report writing skills

• Relates well to other people, both superiors and subordinates

• Supports other team members and work within a team to achieve objectives

• Good time management and organisational skills
