Production Manager/Supervisor – Structural Steel Fabrication

Calbah Industries is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead our structural steel fabrication operations. This role is ideal for a hands‑on leader with strong technical knowledge, excellent people skills, and a proven ability to drive productivity in a fast‑paced workshop environment. If you have deep experience in CNC‑enabled fabrication, robotic welding, and managing large teams, we want to hear from you.
About the Role
You will oversee day‑to‑day production across our fabrication facility, managing a team of 50+ and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This position plays a key role in workflow planning, resource allocation, and continuous improvement across the workshop.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 50+ workshop personnel
· Develop and implement productivity and workflow standards to meet cost and schedule targets
· Oversee CNC and NC machinery including beam cutting, plate processing, drilling, blasting, and painting equipment
· Ensure compliance with safety procedures, welding standards, and Australian quality requirements
· Coordinate fabrication, assembly, and subcontractor activities to support timely project delivery
· Monitor production progress, prepare reports, and manage inspection/testing programs with the QA/QC team
· Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Quality, and Project Management teams to ensure seamless project execution
· Plan, manage, and optimise the use of robotic welding systems to improve efficiency and consistency
About You
· Mechanical Engineering qualification or relevant trade background
· 10–15 years’ experience in structural steel fabrication
· Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role
· Strong leadership, production planning, workflow optimisation, and cost‑management skills
· Advanced technical knowledge of CNC fabrication processes, robotic welding, and Australian standards
· Ability to lead large teams and maintain a high‑performance culture
