About the role

Crystal Fire Services is seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire Panel Technician (Installing, Fault Finding & Testing) to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, fault-finding and testing of fire detection and alarm systems. You will play a crucial part in ensuring that fire safety systems are operating correctly and reliably, protecting lives and property across our diverse client base. This is a hands-on technical position that requires precision, attention to detail and a commitment to safety excellence.

Key responsibilities

  • Install fire detection panels, sensors, and associated equipment in accordance with Australian Standards and client specifications

  • Perform routine maintenance and servicing of fire alarm systems to ensure optimal performance

  • Conduct fault-finding and diagnostic testing on fire panel systems to identify and resolve technical issues

  • Carry out comprehensive system testing and commissioning of newly installed fire detection systems

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for clients experiencing system malfunctions

  • Document all work completed, including test results, maintenance records and system configurations

  • Liaise with clients to understand their requirements and ensure systems meet their needs

  • Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations and company protocols on every job

  • Stay current with industry standards, regulations and emerging fire safety technologies


What we're looking for

  • A recognised qualification in fire detection and alarm systems installation or equivalent technical certification

  • Proven experience installing, testing and maintaining fire alarm panels and associated equipment

  • Proficiency in fault-finding and diagnostic testing of fire safety systems

  • Strong understanding of Australian Standards relevant to fire detection and alarm systems (AS 1670, AS 3786)

  • Competency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and system schematics

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in varied work environments

  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach

  • A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to client sites

  • Physical fitness and capability to work at heights and in confined spaces where required

  • Knowledge of fire safety regulations and compliance requirements in NSW
