Business Analyst - Data, Analytics and Reporting

Are you an adaptable Business Analyst ready to drive key data and reporting initiatives? We are looking for a Data & Analytics Business Analyst to join the Transformation & Technology team. This role is perfect for a personable specialist who excels at bridging functional requirement gathering with technical execution, translating stakeholder needs, querying basic SQL, and building impactful Tableau reports.


Role: Business Analyst - Data & Analytics

Location: Remote (offices based in Canberra & Sydney, which you are able to attend if you wish)

Job Type: Contract until 30th June 27 (potential to extend)

Start Date: ASAP


Responsibilities:

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Reach out to business stakeholders to analyse current report usage and refine reporting needs.

  • Requirements & Documentation: Translate business needs into clear user stories, functional specs, and report designs.

  • Report Development & Testing: Build and test reports in Tableau, ensuring high attention to detail (e.g., standardising report naming conventions).

  • Technical Support: Write basic SQL queries to support backend data preparation for Tableau reporting and data validation.

  • Agile Collaboration: Participate actively in fortnightly sprint cycles, backlog maintenance in Jira, and continuous feedback loops.


Experience:

  • BA Methodology: Business Analysis experience; strong BA fundamentals and discovery skills.

  • BI & Data Tools: Practical experience using Tableau to build reports and dashboards.

  • Technical Foundations: Working knowledge of basic SQL to query databases and support backend report creation.

  • Delivery Frameworks: Proven experience working in Agile/sprint environments using tools like Jira.

  • Testing & Quality: Hands-on experience creating test cases, executing UAT, and identifying defects.

  • Soft Skills: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport remotely across diverse teams.
