What we are looking for:

We are seeking a hands-on and reliable team member to help maintain and present Council's showgrounds, equestrian facilities and event venues to a high standard. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical outdoor work, takes pride in maintaining facilities and grounds, and is willing to roll up their sleeves to support community events when required.

Working as part of the Venue Operations team, you'll undertake a variety of maintenance, cleaning and groundskeeping tasks such as mowing and spraying, while also assisting with event preparation and pack-down activities.

No two days are the same, with opportunities to contribute to the ongoing upkeep of facilities that host major equestrian, community and sporting events across the Fraser Coast. This role requires weekend work and early starts.

What your day will look like:

  • Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, cleaning and presentation tasks across buildings, amenities, grounds, stables and public areas
  • Assist with grounds maintenance activities and the operation of plant and equipment appropriate to the role.
  • Support venue inspections and maintenance schedules to ensure facilities remain safe, functional and event ready.
  • Assist with event preparation, site set-up and reinstatement activities.
  • Work alongside contractors and service providers to support maintenance and improvement projects

What you’ll need for success:

  • Valid Queensland C Class or CA Driver Licence. General Construction Induction (White Card).
  • Ability to assist with venue and event support activities, including set-up and reinstatement tasks.
  • Experience undertaking basic cleaning, maintenance or grounds duties in a venue, event, sporting or community facility environment.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to interact professionally with venue hirers, contractors, staff and the public.
  • Ability to obtain a Conduct Tractor Operations Ticket and Working with Children Blue Card within three months of commencement.

What’s nice to have:

  • Ability to obtain a Conduct Tractor Operations Ticket and Working with Children Blue Card within three months of commencement.
  • Experience supporting venue or event operations within an equestrian, sporting or community facility.
  • ACDC Chemical Application Ticket.
  • Chainsaw Operations Level I Ticket.
  • Pole Saw Ticket.
  • 4WD Recovery and/or Forklift Licence
