About the Role

We are seeking capability analysts and executive writers to support the development of capability proposals, business cases, cabinet submissions, ministerial briefs and strategic advice for Defence and Government clients.

Working with project teams, senior stakeholders and subject matter experts, you will analyse complex issues, develop evidence-based recommendations and create compelling written products that support decision-making and investment outcomes.

This role combines strategic thinking, analysis and communication, making it ideal for professionals who enjoy turning complex information into clear, persuasive advice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse complex capability, project and program information and distil into strategic, persuasive and consumable advice for a range of stakeholders.

  • Develop business cases, capability proposals, cabinet submissions, ministerial briefs and other strategic documentation.

  • Analyse complex information, identify gaps and risks, and develop evidence-based recommendations.

  • Engage with project teams, senior stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather and provide information and build support for proposals.

  • Align capability and project outcomes with organisational, Defence and Government priorities.

  • Translate complex concepts into clear, concise and influential written products for a range of audiences.

  • Provide trusted advice to support capability development, investment decisions and approval processes.

 About You

You may come from a capability management, strategic policy, senior project delivery, Defence consulting, government advisory, communication or strategic writing background.

You are naturally curious, analytical and comfortable navigating ambiguity. You enjoy understanding complex issues, engaging with stakeholders and turning information into compelling narratives that drive action.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Active AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and build productive relationships.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing high-quality strategic documentation.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to synthesise complex information into clear, persuasive recommendations.

  • Experience within Defence, Federal Government or another complex policy, capability or project environment.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience.

Highly regarded:

  • Exposure to Defence capability development, investment approvals, force design, capability management, portfolio management or government decision-making processes will be highly regarded.
