About Us

Working with Sunrise offers a unique opportunity to deliver meaningful health outcomes for Aboriginal communities, while living in the Big Rivers region — home to Nitmiluk Gorge, world-class fishing, and an outdoor lifestyle unlike anywhere else in Australia.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist to join our Chronic Care team and help improve health outcomes for people living in remote Aboriginal communities. In this diverse and rewarding role, you will assess and manage a broad range of conditions, including developmental delays, chronic disease, musculoskeletal conditions and post-operative rehabilitation. You will also provide clinical guidance and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of allied health professionals and specialist clinicians, including Rheumatic Heart Disease Coordinators, Dietitians, Diabetes Educators, Sexual Health Coordinators and Health Promotion staff, to deliver integrated, culturally safe care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver individualised physiotherapy assessments, treatment plans, and evidence-based interventions.

  • Provide visiting clinical services across remote communities and Sunrise clinics.

  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams including nurses and Aboriginal Health Practitioners.

  • Conduct group education sessions and community health promotion activities.

  • Support clients with chronic disease, rehabilitation, disability, and developmental needs.

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to reporting and quality improvement.

Skills Required:

  • Strong clinical assessment and evidence-based physiotherapy treatment skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across diverse communities.

  • Ability to work independently in remote and resource-limited environments.

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration within multidisciplinary health teams.

  • High-level documentation, data entry, and reporting skills.

  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively in Aboriginal health settings.

What You'll bring:

  • Bachelor or Master of Physiotherapy (AHPRA registered).

  • Minimum 3 years physiotherapy experience.

  • Current unrestricted manual driver’s licence.

  • Current First Aid Certificate and National Criminal History Check.

  • Right to work in Australia with required NT clearances (OCHRE/vaccination compliance).

Desirable:

  • Experience working in an Aboriginal health context

  • Strong data entry, reporting, and computer skills

  • Capacity to deliver health promotion and community education

Highly regarded: Experience in Aboriginal health settings, capacity building, and remote service delivery.
