About the Opportunity

HYPAR Residential Care is a values driven provider focused on building positive and supportive relationships with young people in the care of the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety.

We're seeking youth workers in the Sunshine Coast region that will mentor and support our young people with high to complex needs and behaviours to have a stable, consistent and predictable home environment which is therapeutic and safe.

A day in the role of our Mentors includes, but is not limited to:

  • You will be required to support service users with high levels of challenging behaviours, mental health issues, disabilities, or high medical needs.

  • Must be willing to provide personal care and manual handling when required

  • Training and/or experience with manual hoists highly regarded

  • Planning, assisting and engaging in suitable activities with our young people

  • Encourage our young people to make healthy lifestyle choices and access health care services

  • Engage in domestic duties such as house cleaning, laundry, cooking meals, budgeting, shopping etc.

  • Complete daily case notes, administration tasks and incident reports

  • Work collaboratively within the house team to help our young people achieve their personal goals


About You

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • Emotional intelligence, initiative and flexibility to build strong relationships with our young people

  • The ability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations

  • Strong professional boundaries

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency with smart phones/computers

  • The ability to work a variety of shifts across a 24/7 roster

  • Solid understanding of the child protection system and a therapeutic background (highly regarded)

Essential Requirements

  • Completed, enrolled or willing to enrol in a Certificate IV or above in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or similar related course

  • Paid Blue Card - or willing to obtain

  • Paid NDIS Disability Worker Screening - or willing to obtain

  • Must be willing to obtain a Child Safety background screening check (LCS2)

  • Open QLD Drivers Licence

  • A working android or apple smartphone
