Purchasing and Stores Assistant

Proudly Australian owned and operated for more than 30 years, Colterlec is a trusted distributor of high-quality engineered electrical product solutions. With locations across Australia and New Zealand, we deliver everything from supply through to custom design, build, service, and maintenance — backed by a team of experienced experts and industry-leading global brands.

We are growing; and we’re in need of a new team member to help us keep up with ourselves! With our site shortly relocating to Warabrook from Cardiff, there’s lot’s happening and plenty to do (especially if you’re handy on a forklift)!

We're looking for a Purchasing Assistant and Stores Assistant to join our team, supporting our busy, growing electrical field service, workshop and engineering teams, while also pitching in with day-to-day stores duties.

This is a great opportunity for someone with some runs on the board in purchasing or stores who's looking to build on that experience in a varied role that’s a good mix of sitting at a desk and getting up and active.

About the Role

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you'll split your time between purchasing administration and stores support, including:

  • Raising and processing purchase orders

  • Liaising with suppliers on pricing, lead times, and order confirmations

  • Following up on outstanding deliveries and resolving discrepancies

  • Receipting incoming goods and checking against orders/delivery dockets

  • Picking, packing, and dispatching goods as required

  • Maintaining accurate stock and purchasing records including regular cycle counts and stock takes

  • General stores housekeeping and inventory support

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a purchasing, and or stores/warehouse role (a few years preferred — we're not after a purchasing veteran, just someone with solid foundational experience)

  • Comfortable using ERP software, plus the usual Microsoft Office tools

  • Good communication skills and a knack for building relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers

  • A reasonable degree of physical fitness – by no means do we need an Olympian but you’ll be on your feet for at least part of each day.

  • A willingness to just jump in and do what needs doing – we’re busy and we’ve got lots going on and looking for team players to support that

  • A proactive, hands-on approach to your job – you’ll happily get involved on the stores floor when needed

  • You’ll ideally have a forklift ticket but as long as you’re willing to operate one, we’re very willing to train you!

  • It would be a walk up start if you’ve worked anywhere electrical previously, but again… we’ll train you!

What's On Offer

  • Supportive team environment – take work seriously but not yourself

  • A growing, successful national business with lots of opportunities to learn

  • On site parking – Warabrook location

  • Above award salary and some good employee benefits

  • The opportunity to join a business that will treat you like a human being not an employee number

If you're looking to take the next step in your purchasing career while staying hands-on, we'd love to hear from you. Apply now with your resume. The role is available for an immediate start – (we’d love to have your help to relocate)!
