What’s it like working at Winslow Constructors?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees appreciate their colleagues and co-workers, who are consistently described as friendly, helpful and great to work with. Many value the opportunities to gain experience and develop skills in construction and subdivision work, along with the availability of consistent work and a generally welcoming recruitment process.

However, there are some potential challenges, including inconsistent management with concerns around communication and recognition, a blame culture with high staff turnover, and limited resources and tools at times. The outdoor work environment involves varying weather conditions and long travel distances to some sites, whilst some employees have noted concerns about job security with casual positions.

    Good company to work for
The good thingsThis is a good company to work for. Great bunch of down to earth, helpful and friendly blokes and women who enjoy what they do. If you have any questions or need any help with anything, they are happy to support you. Management and HR are down to earth and good group of people. The workplace is culturally diverse and the company encourages women to join.
The challengesThe best thing I've done is taken the initiative to ask my colleagues for help when I've needed to clarify how to complete a task.

Worse ever in my 14 years being in this industry.
The good thingsPeople and management from Civil contractors (before they got bought over by Winslow) were good people. The only good thing the company had which was ruined by melbourne management.
The challengesno work life balance, unfair treatment to employees, management from Melbourne was worse ever, to an extent there was indirect partiality, no continuance as rotation of people was high. Overall everything which could be wrong was in this company.

Great blokes and mentors I am working with, learning heaps. Been a professional experience from recruitment, induction and starting with my team
The good thingsI started as a labourer in January this year. From the moment I applied, the red carpet was rolled out. The recruitment process and dude recruiter was awesome. I was nervous as hell about the interview and he relaxed me and chilled me out instantly
The challengesI live just outside of Melbourne, so takes me a bit to get to work

Management are slow to give you the opportunities you desire and keep you as a causal labourer. Regardless of whether you come in everyday, stay back after hours and all.
The good thingsI’ve been lucky to work with good people on my site. Others at other sites, not so fortunate. I’ve been lucky to have a good leading hand that is a good teacher.
The challenges- Working far from home - A heap of miscommunication on site - Everyone is quick to point fingers rather take responsibility

Poor safety attitudes, no care of employees, expect the world for little in return in any way.
The good thingsPlenty of work, a forever job if you can handle it
The challengesThe high turnover of employees, poor attitudes from foreman to leading hands and most of management have the you dont like it well replace you. Highly political

The good thingsHad the opportunity to work with some great people (unfortunately the bad outweighed the good) who helped me develop skills along the way. Also moved to an operators role.
The challengesDealing with poor management, Dealing with management who don’t give two sh@tsabout employees. 38deg heat off which is way too high.
