What’s it like working at Sadleirs?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees consistently praise the friendly, supportive colleagues and welcoming culture at Sadleirs, noting the company's family-owned feel and traditional values. Management is approachable and supportive, with an accessible CEO who focuses on employee wellbeing. The work/life balance is reasonable, with standard hours and flexibility, and there is a strong focus on safety throughout the organisation. Additionally, the versatile nature of the business provides employees with diverse challenges and opportunities for growth.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as outdated systems and processes that are gradually being improved, and some resistance to change in certain areas of the organisation, particularly among senior management. The transport industry itself presents inherent challenges like weather delays and unexpected developments that can create pressure. The location can be difficult for some due to travel time and traffic, though free parking is provided. Finally, different business units have varying cultures, which can sometimes affect communication and teamwork across divisions.

Solid company with good people, consistent work, and a real team feel on the ground.
The good thingsPlenty of regular work and shifts that let you keep a good routine. The trucks are kept in good shape and you’re treated with respect — not just another body in the seat. It still has that family-owned feel, and you can tell they value the drivers. The ops crew are approachable, safety is a given.
The challengesIt can get full-on when unexpected delays hit — especially with rail or weather issues — but everyone pulls together to sort it. Some processes could be updated, but the company is moving in the right direction and open to improvements if you speak up.

Hard work with a supportive team and management who value their people.
The good thingsThe work culture is very supportive and there is a clear effort from management to do the best by both employees and business. There is a value for work life balance and ensuring that everyone is happy. Management are open to new working concepts and arrangements and value your work's quality and results and reward/recognise your efforts for that.
The challengesVery busy environment, with a number of projects or reporting procedures being carried out. The work is never boring and there is more than enough to keep you occupied.

The good thingsFriendly work environment with a strong focus on safety. There are some great people in the company (although some dinosaurs need to move on). The company is embracing change, the pay is competitive and the work/life balance okay.
The challengesSome outdated old school thinking remains in pockets of the company. The systems are definitely improving but some are still quite manual.
