A positive and rewarding experience, strong safety culture and good opportunities for development.
The good thingsErtech has been a great company to work for on Barrow Island. The crews are supportive, management is approachable, and there is a strong focus on safety, teamwork and delivering quality work. The projects are interesting and provide good opportunities to develop skills, take on responsibility and work alongside experienced people.
The challengesLike any FIFO role, being away from home can be tough at times, but the good crew, roster and working environment make it a lot easier.

The worst place I had ever worked at. Totally regret stepping into the role with Ertech.
The good thingsThe flight out. Fauna was interesting.
The challengesNever worked with a purple circle that has no idea in my life. Management had no idea. There is no personal developement opportunities as they are hidden at sea.

    Would not recommenced
The good thingsSome blokes i worked with were pretty solid.
The challengesAbsolute purple circle company. some guys get away with anything and everything and some guys are under a microscope every second of the day no matter what you do its never good enough. They would give tradesman the flick first swing just because upper management said so while unskilled labourers in the circle would have their feet up most of the day. no job security, no future (unless you're in the circle.)

Worst company I have ever worked for - do not recommend unless you are desperate
The good thingsThere are some great people (not management), the island is a nice place to work. Haven't got anything good to say about the company.
The challengesManagement is appalling, the motto is "everyone is replaceable", terrible systems, shockingly high rate of safety incidents (several every week), extremely overworked, no support, zero appreciation. Never seen staff turnover so rapidly, its revolving doors, they lose really good people constantly.

I would rather be broke and homeless than work for Ertech again.
The good thingsThe end of the day or when you quit.
The challengesGrossly unsafe workplace culture. Overreliance on doing buisness at the bar instead of the office.

    Challenging and unhappy. Poor supervisor.
The good thingsNot much. Were some nice people
The challengesVery negative and unapproving supervisor. Nothing was acceptable or good enough. Took credit for my process advancements and gave no feedback on things required for these advancements. Once complete got someone else to write exactly what I had done when I could have just made small changes to meet the needs. Went to HR for support and got very little help. No pay increase for team yet others in same department got rises (separate finance department teams).
