The competitive salaries and generous benefits, including leave entitlements and superannuation, are highly regarded, along with good work/life balance and an attractive campus location.

Several colleagues told me the working environment affected them so severely they needed medical lea
The good thingsWorking in a severely under resourced environment with little direction or acknowledgment strengthened my resilience and gave me a much clearer understanding of what poor leadership looks like.
The challengesMy experience was of a deeply dysfunctional workplace characterised by poor leadership, favouritism, self-preservation and a lack of accountability. Severe under-resourcing, minimal support and unchecked toxic behaviour created a culture where internal politics took precedence over collaboration and genuine leadership. It taught me the difference between holding a leadership title and actually leading people.

Toxic management culture which is internally recognised and forms part of the uni ‘ecosystem’.

The challengesToxic work environment from top level management, even when complaints are formalised little action is taken and complaints not taken seriously. This is detailed in the multiple submissions to government on the universities Inquiry and more recently on 60 minutes reporting on universities toxic internally bred culture.
