I’ve just landed my first job – a standard mon-fri office deal – and I have a question about clothes. I basically need to buy work outfits from scratch. The dress code at my workplace is "smart casual", so not suit pants or ties, thankfully. Can I get some advice on what staples I can buy to rotate through the week so that I don’t wear the same thing every day? I’m male btw. Two pairs of chinos plus three shirts? I only have $400 to spend on this before my first pay.

In October 2025, I completed my Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, and since then I have been knocked back for dozens of Safety Roles. I have gone through my CV and got advice on it and it all seems good. Has anyone had trouble getting their foot in the door? How did you overcome it?

Finished my post graduate degree post Covid years, most in person opportunities were no longer available due to no contact. I've found it difficult to get a job in the industry as people are looking for "experience". Any trainee positions are targeted to students. I'm still not yet confident in the real world application for such roles, but can't even get a foot in the door. Any advice? Been working in a completely different industry since graduation, and that's usually brought up in interviews.

Hey everyone, I’m looking to get into the mining industry and would really appreciate any advice or opportunities. I’m 18 and currently working full-time in roofing, doing 10+ hour days in the heat, so I’m very used to hard, physical work. I’ve got my Working at Heights, Confined Space, First Aid and White Card, and I’m keen to start as a Trades Assistant or Drillers Offsider. I’m reliable, fit, and ready to work long hours and FIFO.
