Just finished my MBA and a career break. Is it reasonable to negotiate for 30%+ salary on my next role? I was a product manager earning $130k before I took 2 years out to do my MBA full time. Hoping to test if the market would value stronger leadership credentials, anyone with experience on this? 😬

In my experience I would be negotiating added extra benefits like phone, car , laptop, fuel included as a more achievable negotiating tactic than 30% but know your value and if that’s what you are worth go for it!

I've always said the next role has nothing to do with the last one. All you gotta do is ask for it. Getting caught in a lie is never good, so just redirect the conversation when they ask what your last role was paying. You're only gonna get what you ask for right?

Totally agree with Gareth on this one , only we know what we are truly worth at the end of the day and if you think your potential employer will be of great benefit by paying the 30% and your not putting yourself under more stress go for it. As Gareth said sometimes it’s easier to ask for allowances cause it sounds a lot more enticing to employers with very minimal differences to you anyway. Good luck!!!
