Honestly, I feel this is TOUGHER than the whole interview itself, no joke!!! The hardest interview question is always: Do you have any questions for us? lol I'm curious.. maybe I'm just overthinking it. What's the best way to prep for this and not totally black out?!

I always ask what the employer enjoys about working there and why did the previous employee leave for this position to become vacant. That way you put them on the spot and can see if it's genuinely the right position. Also to ask the pay rate is within your rights if they have not advertised.

You can ask them what a day in the role looks like. Ask them to run you through it so you can hear from them what they expect for the person they employ.

I took a risk once at a job interview and asked what was one thing they thought do well in the team culture or business management and what was one thing they are working on to improve. So nervous to ask them but they loved the question, got them thinking.

I would recommend asking open questions about the role, team, key priorities and what you would be working on in the first few weeks if you were successful. This will hopefully open up the interview to a 2-way conversation that will allow you to relax and build rapport with the interview panel.

I always ask how feedback is received from management in relation to KPI’s etc. Do they store all their feedback up and dump it on you in a quarterly review or do they give you it as they come across it? Is it verbal or written? Are there opportunities to provide feedback yourself about processes or policies? I also ask why the role is vacant - is it a new role or did the last person leave due to the job?

I always felt like this was easier to prep for than the interview because at least it's not random. I research the company a bit before hand and try to ask some questions that show I'm thinking ahead to the role like what are the companies main objectives this financial year, and probably my favourite one is what does success look like in this role. The main thing is to not ask a question with a yes / no answer as that gets awkward fast.

I study the role and put myself in the position of responsibility and vision what would be my requirements for the day so simple questions like how many people in the team would i be leading? What time am i expected to be onsite?. A good general question to ask any company is what kind of professional development are they offering? also asking if there is a specific training period provided for the role, this alerts the panel by suggesting you are eager to start and willing to learn.

I find its easier to think about 2 questions prior to the interviews like "what do you expect out of someone in this position"

My go to is always “What will a successful hire in this role look like in 3 months?” It gives you a clear guide on what you need to achieve in the short term. Good Luck
