As a sales leader, I believe SaaS sales is about to boom then bust because of AI. Short term, cost to build software drops, market floods with new SaaS companies, more roles and better commissions as companies compete for top sales talent. Long term, the barrier to build gets so low that companies just build internally and stop buying. What if agents start selling to agents and humans are out of the loop entirely? I think the skill of connecting and persuading people will always be valuable.

I kinda see what you’re saying, feels like we’re already seeing more tools pop up overnight 🤔
Not totally sold on the "no one buys SaaS anymore" future though. Even if it’s easier to build, most businesses still don’t want to build and maintain everything themselves. That’s a whole different headache
Agree on the last part though, being able to connect, build trust, and actually understand what someone needs… that’s hard to replace

Has the value for anything ever been in the tool itself? Like there's 10,000 different tools to do social media scheduling. And people still find a way to differentiate and love/hate some tool.
Plenty of SAAS out there and who's going to want to self host, manage, support, features etc. I can't see AI changing all of it. It's just going to speed up what those companies do, not replace them

AI still isn't and may never be very good at understanding actual human behaviour. At the end of the day most SAAS solves human problems, and I think there's always going to be value in identifying them, even if the process of solving them gets easier. I've heard from people in the industry that vibe coded apps will only hold up to commercial rigours with oversight from skilled engineers, and co's want someone other than themselves to be accountable if something goes wrong esp with private data.

Sounds like it could be the ideal time to get into SAAS sales. Move fast, make the commission now, and make a decision after things change later.

Not sure I'm qualified to comment on a lot of that (some of it sounds genuinely terrifying 😱). But definitely agree that interpersonal skills like connecting, influencing and judgement are and always will be super important.
AI has come a long way but can still be pretty dumb a lot of the time.
