What's it like to be a Site Administrator?
Site Administrators ensure the smooth operation of a work site by performing a variety of administrative tasks. They use software to roster staff, manage travel and leave requirements, and create reports about the site’s performance.
Tasks and duties
- Performing data entry.
- Monitoring payments and preparing invoices and purchase orders.
- Tracking and processing timesheets.
- Reconciling financial and payroll information.
- Maintaining records of inventory, infrastructure and equipment.
- Using software to manage staff rosters, leave and travel requirements.
- Creating regular reports for senior management.
- Taking minutes at meetings.
- Answering enquiries in person, over the phone or via email.
How to become a Site Administrator
You don’t need any formal qualifications to work as a Site Administrator, but a Vocational Education and Training (VET) certificate or diploma in administration may give you an advantage. Good computer skills are essential.
- 1.Complete a Certificate III in Business (BSB30120). This usually takes 6 months to 1 year.
- 2.Look for entry level administrative roles in mining, construction or a related industry.
- 3.Develop your skills using MS Office and other administrative software.
- 4.Consider completing further qualifications to expand your career options. This could be a Diploma of Business (Operations) (BSB50120) or a bachelor degree in accounting, finance, business or a similar field.
