What's it like to be a Production Planner?
Production Planners manage production schedules to ensure the timely manufacturing, construction and/or delivery of goods. They work closely with procurement, manufacturing and logistics teams to align production work with plans, budgets and schedules. Common responsibilities include creating production plans, monitoring progress and project scoping and budgeting. Production Planners often work in industries such as manufacturing, automotive, construction and consumer goods.Tasks and duties
- Developing and managing production schedules to meet customer demands and deadlines.
- Coordinating with procurement, manufacturing and logistics departments to ensure materials and resources are available.
- Monitoring production progress and adjusting schedules as necessary to address delays or issues.
- Analysing production data to identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements.
- Communicating with suppliers and customers to give updates on production status and delivery times.
- Preparing production reports and documentation for management review.
