What's it like to be a Financial Analyst?
Financial Analysts are experts in financial planning and use data and analysis to plan, forecast and assess potential financial risks for a company.
Tasks and duties
- Analyse current and past financial data and performance of a company in order to prepare reports for the management team of an organisation.
- Predict future income and expenses to assist in determining budgets and provide advice about potential areas of improvement.
- Monitor financial movements of a company and broader financial markets so as to make relevant recommendations about ways to improve financial growth.
How to become a Financial Analyst
You usually need a relevant bachelor degree to work as a Financial Analyst. Many employers prefer candidates with a Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualification.
- 1.Complete a bachelor degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, commerce or a related field. This usually takes three years of full-time study.
- 2.Seek an internship while studying to apply your skills under the guidance of experienced Financial Analysts.
- 3.To improve your employability, consider undertaking a Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualification. Alternatively, a postgraduate degree such as a Master of Business Administration may provide similar career benefits.
