How to become a Finance Manager
To become a Finance Manager, you usually need a bachelor degree or higher in a related field, in addition to having experience in the industry.
- 1.Complete a bachelor degree in business, commerce, finance, accounting, economics or business administration. This usually takes three years of full-time study.
- 2.Consider advancing your skills with a relevant postgraduate degree in finance or a Master of Business Administration.
- 3.Many employers prefer candidates who have completed a Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Account (CPA) qualification. Joining industry bodies such as the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and Australian Finance Industry Association (AFIA) can also provide development opportunities that benefit your career.
- 4.Gain extensive experience in the industry, ideally in roles that focus on leading finance teams and processes.
