What's it like to be a Brand Ambassador?
Brand Ambassadors are employed by companies to boost sales and present a brand in a positive light in a public facing capacity. They act as a spokesperson and deploy a range of promotional strategies which raise a brand’s public profile, including event marketing, public speaking, social media marketing, blogging and vlogging, TV and radio commercials, and sponsorship cross-promotions.
Tasks and duties
- Representing the brand positively in a multitude of settings including social media, blogs and websites.
- Leading or assisting content creation: writing blogs, newsletters, product reviews, speeches, TV and internet commercials.
- Generating brand awareness through word-of-mouth marketing.
- Providing feedback and insight on new products and services.
- Responding to enquiries from the public, media and other organisations.
- Procuring sponsorship deals.
How to become a Brand Ambassador
It is possible to work as a Brand Ambassador without formal qualifications, however many employers prefer individuals to have qualifications in the field of communications. An extensive social media following, or public presence is also beneficial.
- 1.Complete a qualification in communications. This could be a Certificate IV in Marketing and Communication (BSB40820), a Diploma of Marketing and Communication (BSB0620), or a Bachelor degree majoring in Media and Communication.
- 2.Build your own personal brand and social media following through content and social media marketing.
- 3.Set up a website or blog to showcase your portfolio of brand affiliations
